Climate Change

Climate change has been a huge issue in the world we live in today. Climate change is affecting all humans, animals and the environment itself. We need to act now before it’s too late and we lose everything. By making small changes today we can make a better tomorrow.

 Effects Brought by Weather

Climate change has affected the weather. The change in the weather is making it hard for us to live. The instant increase in the weather is unsafe. The article “Extreme Heat Awareness and Protective Behaviors in New York City” states “Impacts are generally more concentrated in urban areas like (NYC)”(Kathryn Lane). The author is targeting people who are living in NYC and people who are planning a visit by trying to get their attention. Lane is increasing awareness by informing everyone that climate change is not safe. She is explaining how heat waves caused by climate change can cause death. She approaches a serious tone throughout the whole article trying to state the dangers of changes in the weather. She also explains how studies have shown that the upcoming summer will be hotter and the intensity of heat will continue to increase. Lanes’ whole purpose is to let people know how climate change can be harmful to human life. The article “Extreme Heat Awareness and Protective Behaviors in New York City” also states “Heat waves kill more Americans, on average, each year than any other extreme weather event, and ambient heat causes more than any other natural hazard, with the exception of the cold weather”(Kathryn Lane). By stating this fact Lane is emphasizing that climate change is a very serious matter. She wants everyone to start taking actions now because our lives are in danger.

Deaths caused by Climate Change

China is another country which is affected by instance increase in the weather. Global warming is making the weather hotter causing thousands of people to die every year. Roni Dengler the author of the magazine article “Heat Will Kill Thousands in China Cities Each Year From Climate Change” uses harsh words to inform the readers the risks of climate change. She is mainly targeting everyone who is living in China by informing them how the sudden change in the weather may be dangerous to their life. The main purpose of this magazine is to create awareness. The magazine states “It is possible to reduce vulnerability by increasing public health input, improving the sun protection capacity of buildings and the accessibility of clean drinking water” (Roni 53-55).  The tone which Dengler is using is very intense, she wants everyone to take action to decrease the impact of climate change. Dengler also states “The model projected that 50 to 67 people per million would die from heat-related causes if climate change was kept under 1.5 degrees C (2.7 degrees F). But that number balloons to 60 to 80 people per million if Earth were to see 2 degree C (3.6 degree F) warming. The finding shows “an additional 0.5 degree C warming … will result in an additional 27,900 to 33,200 thousand heat-related deaths per year,” (Roni 34-37). The purpose of this is to show how much damage global warming has brought to the people in china. These were the elements used in the magazine to catch people’s attention is China and to inform them about the dangers that they will face in the future.

Human health

Human health is another aspect that is at high risk by climate change. By polluting our environment, we are making our earth inhabitable. The place we all call home is now slowly dying. Everything we consume is being poisoned by the effects of climate change. By consuming infected food, water, and air people are becoming sick. “Climate change is affecting the American people in far-reaching ways. Impacts related to climate change are evident across regions and in many sectors important to society—such as human health, agriculture and food security, water supply, transportation, energy, ecosystems, and others—and are expected to become increasingly disruptive throughout this century and beyond.”(Thirteen Agencies).  The author is mainly focused on everyone who is being affected by climate change by trying to get their attention on how dangerous it is to consume infected food and water. The main purpose of this article is to raise awareness of our lives which is at stake. The author in this article uses persuasive words to get the point across. “Climate change affects human health and wellbeing through more extreme weather events and wildfires, decreased air quality, and diseases transmitted by insects, food, and water.” The author is persuading the readers to stop polluting the environment which is hurting the earth even more. The author is trying to convince people to take better care of the environment to reduce the effects of climate change.

Climate change affects urban areas

Climate change is affecting people who are living in urban areas. “Climate change poses risks for human and natural systems and urban areas are highly vulnerable to climate change effects, especially with regard to flooding and heat waves”. (Katia Perini chapter 2). Perini’s focus is to warn everyone living in an urban area. Her goal is to inform everyone what is there to expect all the dangers climate change will bring. Perini’s language and tones are both serious because throughout the book she is talking about the danger people will face. She also states, the water we drink will be affected by global warming. Which means every living organism living in the water are affected too. This raises a red flag, making this a huge factor.

Conclusion

In conclusion, climate change is arguably doing the most damage in our planet. It is our duty to make our plant a better place again. Articles, books, newspapers, etc are all using rhetorical situations in their writings to catch more attention. Authors state their purpose use persuasive language to tell the readers how important the situation is.
